ISO/TS 16949:2002 is an ISO Technical Specification and together with ISO 9001:2000, specifies the quality system requirements for the design/development, production, installation and servicing of automotive related products.
ISO/TS 16949:2002 was developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) to supersede QS 9000 based on ISO 9001:1994, which became obsolete on the 15th December 2003.
Administrative support for the distribution of manuals and training delivery is through the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG).
New certificates to QS 9000 with the ISO 9000 element upgraded to ISO 9001:2000 can continue to be used up to the 14th December 2006, by which time a transfer to ISO/TS 16949:2002 must have taken place.
Certification International Singapore (CIS) and Certification International Philippines (CIP) have been appointed agents of the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) to undertake ISO/TS 16949:2002 assessments in Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand.
The VCA is a recognised Certification Body by the IATF. For further information please contact the CIS or CIP office. (See Worldwide Offices).
